Description

is a medium-bodied red wine with a unique flavor profile characterized by red and black fruit notes, often with a distinctive green peppercorn or herbal element. It is known for its smooth tannins, medium to high acidity, and a medium to full body. While originally from Bordeaux, France, Carménère is now almost exclusively grown in Chile, where it has found a particularly suitable home.

Raspberry, plum, vanilla.

  • Carménère is one of the oldest grape varieties, originating in Bordeaux, France.
  • It was brought to Chile in the 19th century, where it was initially mistaken for Merlot.
  • The variety was rediscovered in Chile in the 1990s and has since become a signature grape for the country.
  • Chile’s climate and soil conditions have proven ideal for Carménère, allowing it to thrive where it had struggled in its native France.
